The time has come for Unadkat as Indian Team Has Recalled Unadkat as a Replacement for Mohammad Shami for Bangladesh Test Series. Jaydev Unadkat has been called up as a replacement for injured Mohammed Shami, who is rehabilitating at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
During a training session before the Bangladesh tour, Shami picked up a right shoulder niggle. Although he missed the ODI leg, Shami was likely to be fit for the Tests, but that now seems unlikely.
Unadkat has only ever played one Test as a teenager straight out of the Indian Under-19s, in the first Test of the 2010-11 tour of South Africa. Unadkat’s outstanding performances helped Saurashtra win the Vijay Hazare Trophy, defeating Maharashtra in the summit clash by 19 wickets.
He recently said, “the hunger and fire to play and perform for the country is still burning bright”.
He further added:
“I do look at my individual performances, but from a way that it takes the team through, not in a way where I think if it will help me get selected for India or India A,” he had said. “At the end of the day, that’s the space you want to be in and I’m happily trying to help the team win as many games as possible. If you love the way you play the game, all other things will fall in place. I love this space and the mindset I’m currently in and don’t want to change that for anything. But the hunger and fire to play and perform for the country is still burning bright.”

Indian Team Injury Stories
It has been announced that Unadkat will join India’s Test squad as an injury replacement in Bangladesh. The other player that joined the India team is Abhimanyu Easwaran, a replacement for Rohit Sharma, who returned home to Mumbai after suffering a finger injury during the ODI series, and Jadeja is already out.
So let’s hope the Indian team will bounce back in the Test series after a great win against Bangladesh in the last ODI. A fantastic 72nd hundred of Virat Kohli and a tremendous knock of double a hundred of Ishan Kishan today make him the only 4th Indian batsman to do so.
