Guinness World Record for the Largest attendance at a T20 match

A proud moment for everyone as India creates the Guinness World Record for the Largest attendance at a T20 match. According to the Board for Control of Cricket in India, the IPL 2022 final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was the largest attendance during a T20 match, which has been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The Gujarat Cricket Association (India) achieved the largest attendance (101,566 people) at a T20 cricket match on 29 May 2022 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India. The Gujarat Titans defeated the Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in the final match of the TATA IPL 2022 season to win the match and the title.

“A proud moment for everyone as India creates the Guinness World Record. This one is for all our fans for their unmatched passion and unwavering support. Congratulations to

@GCAMotera and @IPL.”

Narendra Modi Stadium opened in 1983 and has been the regular venue for international matches. Having closed in 2015, the stadium reopened in 2020 following a complete rebuild. Further, BCCI renamed it after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24 February 2021. And most probably will be the venue of the IPL 2023 Final.

According to BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Twitter

“Extremely delighted & proud to receive the Guinness World Record for the largest attendance at a T20 match when 101,566 people witnessed the epic @IPL final at @GCAMotera‘s magnificent Narendra Modi Stadium on 29 May 2022. A big thanks to our fans for making this possible! @BCCI.”

The venue hosted the second qualifier and the 15th season’s final in February 202. The newly renovated Motera stadium will likely host the final at the 2023 World Cup next year.
