Winners of IPL 1 to 16

Below are the details of Indian Premier League winners from 1 to 15 games played till now. 

Winner of IPL – 2008

2008 was the beginning year of the Indian Premier League. The last match was held on 18 April in India. It was played between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals (Winners). The stadium was full of cricket enthusiasts, with about 34226000. 

Rajasthan Royals won by 7 wickets against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) with a target of 163/5 in 20 overs. Rajasthan Royals, headed by Shane Watson, won the first Indian Premier League. He, Shane Watson, won the title of Man of the Tournament for his surprising performance. 

Furthermore, Shawn March won the orange cap by achieving the highest score runner, and Sohail Tanvir got a purple cap as the highest score wicket-taker. 

The Rajasthan Royals were exceptional team players throughout the match series. It had all the experienced batsmen like Shane Watson and Graeme Smith and explosive bowlers like Yusuf Pathan and Shawn Tanvir. When the final match was played against Chennai Super King, Yusuf Pathan gave an extraordinary performance in both the bowling and batting department. He took three main wickets and scored 59 on 39 balls. 

Winner of IPL – 2009

It was the second season of IPL and was held outside India in South Africa. The final match was between Deccan Chargers (Winner) And Royal Challengers Bangalore. 

Deccan Chargers won the title by 4 wickets, scored 143, and fixed the score of 144 runs for team Royal Challengers Bangalore. The team RCB lost the match by six runs and could score 137 runs by losing nine wickets in 20 overs in Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa. 

In addition, Mathew Hayden got an orange cap by scoring more score runners, and RP Singh won the purple cap as the highest score wicket-taker. 

The title of player of the match was given to Adam Gilchrist as he scored 495 runs with his bat and got 18 catches behind his stumps. 

Winner of IPL – 2010

The third year of the IPL was held in India. The final match was played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) VS Mumbai Indians in Mumbai. 

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and decided to do batting. They scored 168 runs by losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. The next turn was Mumbai Indians, and they failed to achieve the score. Only scored 146 runs after losing nine wickets and by 22 runs. 

Sachin Tendulkar got an orange cap for doing the highest score runs, while Pragyan Ojha won the purple cap as the highest wicket-taker. Moreover, Sachin Tendulkar scored 618 and was declared the game’s player. 

Suresh Raina did a fantastic batting performance in the match. CSK’s route to success in the final versus Sachin Tendulkar was lit by his performance of 57, not out of 35. 

Winner of IPL – 2011

The fourth match of the IPL was held in 2011 in India with minor changing parts. The season was played with the addition of 2 more teams, Pune and Kochi, divided into two groups. In addition, the play-off system was introduced as well. 

The audience witnessed the match in Chennai between Chennai Super Kings (Winners) and Royal Challengers Bangalore. First, batting was done by CSK, who marked 205 runs in 20 overs by losing five wickets. RCB had lost the match for the second time in the final, this time to the CSK team, as they only made 147 runs by losing 8 wickets. 

Chris Gayle won the orange cap as the highest score runner, and Lasith Malinga received a purple cap by getting more wickets. 

CSK made glorious history by making 58 more runs against RCB. The crown of Man of the Match was given to Murali Vijay as he scored 95 runs in the final competition. Moreover, Chris Gayle was recognized with the title of player of the game as he scored 608 and took 8 wickets in the event.

Winner of IPL – 2012

It was the fifth season of the IPL staged in India amongst eight clubs. The match was between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders (Winners). Batting was done by Chennai Super Kings, who scored 191 runs. Suresh Raina scored 73 runs in 38 balls.

Next, it was Kolkata Knight Riders’ turn, and they played exceptionally well. Gautam Gambir was the captain of the KKR team. The team met the target of achieving 192 runs by losing 5 wickets along with Manvinder Bisla, who scored 89 runs in 48 balls. 

Sunil Narine was the player of the game’s player, taking 24 wickets in 15 innings. Chris Gayle was awarded an orange cap for making the highest score of runs, and Morne Morkel got a purple cap for achieving. 

Winner of IPL – 2013

This was the sixth season of the PepsiCo IPL held in India. The final match was played between Mumbai Indians (Winners) and Chennai Super Kings this time. Mumbai Indians scored 148 runs by losing nine wickets and set a target of 149 to CSK. 

CSK failed to achieve the target as they just scored 125 runs by losing 9 wickets. Mumbai Indians lifted the trophy by doing an outstanding performance against CSK. Rohit Sharma led the team to their magnificent first achievement. Throughout the match, the team played well-balanced.

Michael Hussy got an orange cap by marking the highest runner score, and Morne Morkel received the title of the purple cap as making the highest wicket-taker. Moreover, Shane Watson was recognized as the man of the series for his exceptional accomplishments. 

Winner of IPL – 2014

The seventh edition of IPL was conducted in India. This season, the last match between Kolkata Knight Riders (Winners) and Kings XI Punjab was played. 

Kolkata wonderfully chased down the target of 200 by losing 7 wickets. This was the second time that Kolkata held up the trophy of the match. Manesh Pandey was the captain of KKR who led the team to its final glory. 

Glenn Maxwell was awarded as man of the series amongst 8 teams for his exceptional contribution in performance as he scored 552 runs from 16 innings with the bat.  As the most remarkable run scorer, Robin Uthappa got an orange cap, and Mohit Sharma received a purple cap for being the highest runner-taker. 

Winner of IPL – 2015

It was the eighth season of the IPL, which took place in India. The final match of 2015 was played between Mumbai Indians (Winner) and Chennai Super Kings. 

Mumbai Indians won the title by scoring more runs, 202 at the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. In contrast, the Chennai Super Kings failed to meet the target as they only did 161 runs by losing 8 wickets. 

After CSK and KKR, Mumbai Indians were the third team who win the trophy for the second time. 

David Warner got the purple cap as the market’s highest score runner. Dwayne Bravo achieved the purple cap as making the highest wicket-taker. 

Winner of IPL – 2016

This was the ninth season of IPL conducted in India. The IPL 2016 final match was held between teams Sunrisers Hyderabad ( Winners) VS Royal Challengers Bangalore. 

The Sunrisers Hyderabad squad won the final against Royal Challengers Bangalore with only eight runs. RCB finished the match with 200 runs from 20 overs and seven wickets lost. The Man of the Match award went to RCB skipper Virat Kohli for his 973 runs from 16 innings, which included four hundred.

The Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals have been banned from competing this season. Virat Kohli was awarded an orange cap for being the greatest run-scorer, while Bhuvaneshvar Kumar was awarded a purple cap for taking the most wickets.

Winner of IPL – 2017

Mumbai Indians became the first IPL team to win the championship more than once. Their first triumph came in 2013, followed by a second in 2015. The Mumbai Indians won the final by a single run against the Rising Pune Supergiants. The skipper of the Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma, was excellent. 

Mumbai Indians had a low score. After losing eight wickets in 20 overs, they had only scored 129 runs. Despite this, they stopped the Rising Pune Supergiants to 128/6 in 20 overs, winning the event by one run.

David Warner was awarded an orange cap for being the top run-scorer, while Bhuvaneshwar Kumar was awarded a purple cap for taking the most wickets. Ben Strok (Pune) won the competition.

Winner of IPL – 2018

The 11th season of the IPL was staged in India. The IPL 2018 final match was contested between Mumbai Indians (Winner) and Chennai Super Kings this season. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad had scored 178 runs in 20 overs with the loss of six wickets, setting up a massive 179-run target for CSK. CSK reached the massive score of 181/2 with nine balls to spare, winning the IPL Trophy for the third time.

Kane Williamson received an orange cap for being the greatest run-scorer, and Andrew Tye received a purple cap for being the highest wicket-taker. Sunil Narine was the match’s Best player.

Winner of IPL – 2019

Mumbai Indians have won one more game this season. It was the most effective team in the Indian Premier League in the past. In the Indian Premier League final, Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings for the fourth time. 

Mumbai has a 2-1 record in the previous three tournaments, defeating the competition in 2013 and 2015 and losing the tournament once in 2010.

Mumbai had scored 149 runs in the first inning, aside from losing eight wickets in 20 overs. Despite restricting the Chennai Super Kings to 148/7 in 20 overs, they won the championship by one run. 

Andre Russell of the Kolkata Knight Riders was named player of the match for his 510 runs and 11 wickets throughout the competition. 

The Mumbai Indians had won the title for the fourth time in a row. With this victory, the Mumbai Indians became the most successful team in IPL history, winning the fourth IPL title.

Winner of IPL – 2020

For the Indian cricket board, the IPL 2020 season was a huge success. The IPL 2020 was held in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, from September to November. On the night of the finals, Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals to win the IPL 2020 title. 

Mumbai Indians won the title for the sixth time. The Mumbai Indians, led by Rohit Sharma, dominated the season. Mumbai and Delhi met four times in the IPL 2020, with MI winning each time. 

Ishan Kishan scored the most runs for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020. He proved to be dependable. Kagiso Rabada won the purple cap for IPL 2020. And KL Rahul won the orange hat.

Winner of IPL – 2021

Chennai Super Kings captured the trophy for the fourth time in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League by defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders; they previously accomplished this feat in 2010, 2011, and 2018. (Check the table above). On October 15, 2021, the final competition of the IPL 2021 was held in the Dubai International Stadium. CSK became IPL champions for the fourth time.

Eoin Morgan, the captain of KKR, won the toss and encouraged CSK to bat first. CSK started brightly, scoring 50 runs in six overs. They kept up their scoring rate and had 192 runs on the board.

In the last match of the IPL 2021, Faf du Plessis was named Man of the Match. Harsha Patel was named Man of the Series for the IPL 2021 sessions.

Winner of IPL – 2022

On May 29, 2022, the Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) to win the Tata IPL 2022 title. Hardik Pandya was named Man of the match, while Jos Buttler of the Rajasthan Royals was named Player of the Series. 

IPL Winner of 2023

CSK won in 2023. The match was played between CSK vs GT. 

Final Words

From 2008 until now, we have made a list of IPL champions. The Mumbai Indians have won the IPL five times and CSK now has joined and has won 5 times.
