“Massive” Viacom Has Won WIPL MEDIA Rights. Following a Mumbai auction, Viacom18 won media rights for the women’s IPL for five years. BCCI secretary Jay Shah called the deal “massive” when he announced on Twitter that the company will spend INR 951 crores between 2023 and 2027.

Jay Shah Twitted:
“Congratulations @viacom18 for winning the Women’s @IPL media rights. Thank you for your faith in @BCCI and@BCCIWomen. Viacom has committed INR 951 crores which means per match value of INR 7.09 crores for next 5 years (2023-27). This is massive for Women’s Cricket.“
Earlier the Jay Shah Said in the Tender Notice:
“The detailed terms and conditions governing the tender process including eligibility requirements, process for submissions of bids, proposed media rights packages, and obligations, etc. are contained in the ‘Invitation to Tender’ (“ITT”) which will be made available on receipt of payment of non-refundable fee of INR 5,00,000 (Rupees Five Lakhs Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax. The procedure to procure the ITT documents is enlisted in Annexure A to this document. The ITT will be available for purchase till December 31, 2022. “

During WIPL 2023’s closed-bid auction, Viacom 18 outbid other groups. A total of three types of rights were sold – linear (TV), digital (TV and digital), and combined (TV and digital). After IPL Men rights, Viacom is now leading media rights.
