In a recent announcement, the BCCI announced that the women’s IPL would open in March of next year. It will start right before the men’s IPL 2023. As far as next year’s inaugural Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL) is concerned, Mithali Raj Keeps Options Open for Women’s IPL
At Wankhede Stadium on March 26, Chennai Super Kings will play Kolkata Knight Riders in the tournament’s opening match.
Several corporate giants may be interested in investing in the teams sometime soon. There will be an auction soon for Women IPL. Mithali Raj said in an interview with PTI: She is interested in being involved in the WIPL. She will try her best in some way and help to make it successful.
Mithali Raj’s Involvement in the WIPL
“I am keeping that role open, whether as a player or in a franchise in some way as a mentor,” she said in an interview on Tuesday.
“But right now, nothing is clear; there are five teams…how they are going to do, whether it’s a bidding or auction, so until there is some concrete information, I am keeping pretty much all things open,” said Mithali, who retired from international cricket earlier this year.
She asked if owning a team was an option and said, “Maybe, yes.”
Mithali recently made her debut as a commentator and termed it an “interesting phase.”
“I am watching cricket from very different optics. I still do feel the nerves if it’s a tight game. I still have to cross that barrier of not feeling those emotions of a player,”. The former India skipper, who was here for an event, said.
“I am just testing the waters if I am apt for commentary. Maybe after a few months, I will see if I still have the keenness to pursue it.”
Mithali Raj is a right-handed batsman. Overall, in international T20 89 matches, she has scored 2364 runs at an average of 37.52. It includes 17 fifties and a 0 century; her highest score is 77.
