Sam Billings Opts Out of IPL 2023 was another news from the KKR camp as they were doing many changes before the IPL Mini-auction. In his recent tweet on November 14, he tweeted on the social media platform about his opting out of the IPL 2023. Kolkata Knight Riders acquired Billings at the IPL 2022 mega-auction for INR 2 crore.
In his tweet, he said:
“Have taken the tough decision that I won’t be taking part in the next IPL
@KKRiders. Looking to focus on longer format cricket at the start of the English summer with @Kentcricket.”
He further added:
“Thank you so much for the opportunity
@kkriders
Loved every minute of it. An amazing franchise with some brilliant people.
Hopefully, see you again in the future 💜.”
In eight games, Billings scored 169 runs at an average of 24.14 in eight matches for the two-time champions, led by Shreyas Iyer. He scored 36 runs in his highest score of 36, which was his highest in 2022.
Knight Riders’ camp was busy on Sunday (November 13) morning as Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz were acquired from Gujarat Titans (GT) in all-cash deals. It was a surprise to many that Gurbaz was traded. However, considering Billings is opting out of the current KKR squad is now connecting all the dots. In addition, KKR has bought Shardul Thakur, which increased the acquiring list.
England is soon visiting Pakistan for the 3 Test Matches series in December. He will be a good option as a wicket-keeping batsman, along with Ben Foakes.
