Team India Will Get a New Head Coach for the T20I Team: Reports Say

According to reports, Surprisingly, Team India will get a new head coach for the T20I team. BCCI’s Mumbai headquarters reports that the BCCI is looking seriously at appointing a separate coach for India’s T20 team. Several BCCI sources claim the new coaching roster could be announced as early as January, resulting in a new captain and coach leading the Indian T20 squad against Sri Lanka.

An official representative of the BCCI has confirmed that the board is showing interest in hiring a new coach for the Indian T20 team ahead of the series against Sri Lanka. Hardik Pandya had already been named India’s next T20 captain before the series against Sri Lanka. Almost certainly, Rahul Dravid and the incoming coach will work collaboratively.

In response to these reports, Dravid will initially focus on the ODI and Test teams before moving to a different coaching setup for the T20s, which the top BCCI official has also approved.

“We are seriously mulling on it. More than it being Rahul Dravid or anyone’s ability, it is a question of managing tight schedules & having specialize skills on board. T20 now is like a separate sport, tough calendar & regular events. We also need to imbibe change. Yes, I can confirm India soon will have new T20 Coaching SET-UP” confirmed top official in the BCCI.

Harbhajan Singh said that at the time. “Somebody who has played the game recently is better suited for a coaching job in T20. I am not saying that you should remove Rahul from T20. Ashish and Rahul can work together to prepare this team for the 2024 World Cup.”

Notably, the national cricket team of England is now led by two different coaches for both red-ball and white-ball games. Brendon McCullum was recently appointed head coach of England’s test team, while Australian Matthew Mott manages the ODI and T20I squads.

Additionally, England won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2022, showing that using two different coaching teams is the best choice in this time of hectic schedules.
