Domestic/Early Cricket Career

In 2010, he became part of the Sadiq e Akbar cricket club. Shadab Khan wanted to be a fast bowler, but his coach urged him to be a leg spinner. Shadab played his U-16 from 2011-13 and then had a one-year break, which could not even take him off to get a place in the U-17 series against England in the UAE back in 2015. In this tournament, he concluded as the most wicket-taker for his team, collecting ten wickets in 4 matches.

He was promptly selected for the Under-19 World Cup in 2016 and got the selectors’ attention by topping the wicket charts in the tournament, picking up 11 wickets from 6 games at a remarkable average of 19. With time, he mastered his all-rounder skills and played for the team Rawalpindi Rams in the 2016 National T20 Cup.

ODI Career

Shadab Khan made his One Day International (ODI) debut for Pakistan against the West Indies on 7 April 2017 at Providence Cricket Ground in Guyana. He took the crucial wickets of their wicketkeeper Shai Hope and captain Jason Holder. But unfortunately, his team lost by four wickets despite posting 308 runs on the board. 

He became the youngest to win an ICC ODI tournament final at 18 years and 257 days. Shadab scored his maiden ODI fifty against Sri Lanka on 16 October 2017, along with Babar Azam, made a partnership of 109, and slowly built the innings towards 200.

When bowling, Khan took early breakthroughs in the low-scoring game, taking three wickets. Pakistan won the match by 32 runs, and Shadab was honored to be the Man of the Match for his all-rounder performance.
