It will be a Mini-auction where franchises will use their remaining pot; Unlike the mega auction before the 2022 edition, ten franchises had to rebuild their squads from scratch.
The teams will also have an additional INR 5 crore (approx. US $607,000) to spend at this auction, bringing the total purse to INR 95 crore (approx. US $11.5 million). The Mini Auction will be one day compared to the Mega Auction 2022, which took 2 days to wrap.
Last year’s auction left Punjab Kings with the largest surplus – INR 3.45 crore (approx. $425,000), while Lucknow SuperGiants used up their entire pot. Now Kochi to Host IPL Mini-Auction on December 23, and teams will utilize their purse on the released players.
- Chennai Super Kings had INR 2.95 crore (approx. US $358,000)
- Royal Challengers Bangalore (INR 1.55 crore, or approx. US $188,000)
- Rajasthan Royals (INR 0.95 crore or approx. US $115,000)
- Kolkata Knight Riders (INR 0.45 crore, or approx. US $55,000).
Regarding remaining funds, Gujarat Titans have INR 0.15 crore (about US $18,000), Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals have INR 0.10 crore (about US $12,000).
After the franchises submit the list of players released by November 15, the IPL is expected to finalize the player pool for the auction by early December.
