Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, also known as Visaka International Cricket Stadium Ground, was inaugurated in 2004. It is the home ground of the IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad. Often considered the Uppal Stadium as it is situated in the suburb of the Uppal. Before this, Hyderabad Cricket Association used Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium for their sports events, But HCA didn’t have full autonomy to use this stadium. 

And it was a small stadium and couldn’t host international matches. HCA proposed to build a new International standard stadium in Hyderabad. N.Chandrababu Naidu was the sitting CM of Andhra Pradesh, and he approved the proposal immediately. It is named in memory of former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi.
