The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for the 16th season will take place on December 23, 2022, in Kochi, Kerala. According to a notification released Thursday by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Among the 991 players registered for the mini-auction, 714 Indians and 277 overseas players are among those.
Australia has 57 players registered for the mini-auction, making up most of the 277 international players on the list. A significant number of players from South Africa (52), the West Indies (33), and England (31) have registered for the auction.
Meanwhile, India has 19 capped players that have signed up for the auction.
“If every franchise were to have a maximum of 25 players in their squad, 87 players are available to be bought in the auction (of which up to 30 players can be overseas players),” Jay Shah, BCCI secretary, said in a statement.
The list was issued a few weeks after the 10 IPL franchises submitted their list of released and retained players.
